| Jeffry Denman and Amanda Watkins to Star in North Shore Crazy for You
Casting is now complete for the North Shore Music Theatre's upcoming production of Crazy for You, which will kick off the 2007 musical season at the Massachusetts venue. Directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, the Gershwin musical will play the North Shore April 24-May 13 with an official opening April 26. Playbill.com has learned that Jeffry Denman, who will soon be seen in the City Center Encores! production of Face the Music, and Amanda Watkins will head the cast as, respectively, Bobby Child and Polly Baker. They will be joined onstage by Dan Amboyer (Lank Hawkins), Maureen Brennan (Mother), Gordon Baird (Eugene Fodor), David Coffee (Bela Zangler), John O'Creagh (Everett Baker), Lyn Philistine (Irene Roth) and Tory Ross (Patricia Fodor). The ensemble comprises Bree Branker, Jayson Elliott, Karen Hyland, Megan Hart Jimenez, Amy Ling, Gavin Lodge, Patrick ONeill, Amber Owens, Amanda Paulson, Shua Potter, Ami Price, Vincent Rodriguez III, Leejato Amara Robinson, Brian Spitulnik, Jonathan Stahl and Kristen Beth Williams.

TORONTO (CP) - Claude Lamoureux, who is retiring as president and chief executive of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan after an illustrious career leading one of Canada's largest investment funds, warned Friday that some hard choices lay ahead. "We must balance the presence with the future. We must ensure that what members put into the plan, and what members get out of the plan, is fair for all generations for teachers," Lamoureux said in a speech at the plan's annual meeting. Quoting Warren Buffett, Lamoureaux said that the legendary American financier had written that public pension plans "can defer the need for increased taxes by using investment assumptions that are likely to be out of reach. . . . .

TSX down on lower oil but telecoms, media companies rise as BCE ...
TORONTO (CP) - The Toronto stock market snapped a three-day winning streak Tuesday as lower crude prices dragged down energy stocks but the market found strength in the telecom sector after after heavyweight BCE Inc. (TSX:BCE) announced that it's for sale. A downturn in the tech sector made for mixed markets in New York where investors took in economic data that showed readings on inflation and housing that were better than expected. Toronto's S&P/TSX composite slipped 2.03 points to 13,657.95 a day after rising to yet another record close. Shares in Bell Canada parent BCE moved up $2.34 or 6.45 per cent to $38.60, on top of Monday's four per cent pop, after the company said it's in discussions with a consortium of leading Canadian pension funds to explore the possibility of taking the company private.
